ABOUT 400 residents across the Ibarapa zone of Oyo State have benefited from the maiden edition of palliatives distribution by a non-governmental organisation, Irorun-Ni Charitable Foundation Nigeria.
Food items such as rice, spaghetti, noodles, and garri were distributed to the beneficiaries t hat were selected from across Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North local government areas through ward and local government coordinators. The programme was held at An-Nur Group of Schools, Eruwa.
The First Vice Chairman, Irorun-Ni Charitable Foundation Nigeria, Sheikh Mansur Abdulsalam, in a remark at the distribution event, said the Executive Director of the foundation, Dr Sakirullai Orankan and other philanthropists conceived the idea of bringing succour to Nigerians to mitigate sufferings occasioned by the prevailing economic situation in the country.
“Irorun-Ni Charitable Foundation Nigeria was established to assist the needy with cash, food items and other empowerment initiatives to ensure abundant life for all,” Abdulsalam said.
He said the foundation is apological, non-discriminatory and all-embracing in the selection of beneficiaries.
A member of the Board of Trustees and the treasurer of the foundation, Dr Muhammad-Lawal Musa Alongbija, noted that palliatives presented to the foundation’s coordinators were to compensate for their sacrifices and encourage them to do more.
Dr Alongbija, while unveiling the logo and website of the foundation, stated that membership is open to all volunteers.
“This event is the first in the series of our continuous reaching out to the people. I advise Nigerians to contact our coordinators for requests and recommendations of the needy in the society,” he said.
The chairman of the Muslim Community of Ibarapaland and a member of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, Dr Bilal Yusuf-Shittu, called on the coordinators to discharge their duties and showcase the beauty of Islam by exhibiting sympathy, transparency and dedication.
The coordinator of the foundation in the Ibarapa zone, Dr Ahmad Bilal, urged the ward and local government coordinators to ensure even distribution of the palliatives in their respective areas.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Prince Maruf Badmos and Alhaja Rashida Jare-Gbadamosi, commended the foundation for what they described as the well-thought-out initiative and prayed Allah to assist them to do more for humanity.
